ABOUT EMILIA

Piano Diva with Classical Authority

Emilia Mullerman, praised by the press as “a modern piano diva redefining classical performance,” was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Raised in a distinguished musical family, she is the daughter of renowned baritone and Soviet singer Vadim Mullerman, and was immersed in music from a young age, frequently accompanying and touring with her father. At the age of ten, she made her first orchestral debut with the Kharkiv Symphony Orchestra while studying at the Kharkiv State Music Lyceum, where she trained under leading pedagogues of the Soviet tradition.
During her years in Ukraine, Emilia performed extensively throughout Ukraine, Russia, and Europe, earning prizes at numerous international competitions and participating in major music festivals. Among these were the International Performing Arts Competition for Youth “The Accords of Chortitza” in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine; the “Aivazovsky’s Guests” International Music Festival in Crimea; the Annual “Virtuosi per Musica di Pianoforte” in the Czech Republic; and the XX International Music Festival of Ukraine in Kharkiv, where she received multiple prizes and distinctions.

After immigrating to the United States, Emilia continued her studies at the Eastman School of Music, where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, studying under Steinway Artists Joseph Rackers and Marina Lomazov. While at Eastman, she maintained an active performing career and was awarded the prestigious Simon Rose Memorial Scholarship, presenting numerous solo recitals. Alongside her solo work, Emilia developed a strong profile as a collaborative pianist, working closely in chamber music and vocal repertoire with renowned professors and performers, including Oleh Krysa, Mikhail Kopelman, and Katherine Ciesinski. A significant turning point in her career as a collaborative artist came with an invitation to serve as an opera accompanist, coach, and rehearsal pianist for a production of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at the Miami Music Festival. Emilia has been recognized in the United States with awards from international competitions and has performed in recitals at major venues, including Carnegie Hall, New York City Center, Steinway Hall, Sony Hall, and Kilbourn Hall. She has participated in numerous masterclasses and worked with distinguished pianists and educators, including Pablo Galdo, Christopher Guzman, Ursula Oppens, Kwan Yi, Jason Kwak, Yakov Kasman and others. Recently, she has accepted admission to the Manhattan School of Music, where she is pursuing her Master’s degree in piano performance under the guidance of Alexandre Moutouzkine.

Career highlights for Emilia include a European tour featuring both solo and collaborative recitals, among them a Ukraine-dedicated program at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, as well as performances at international festivals such as the VIII Internationalen Festival Freundschaftsbrücken. That same year, she was invited to appear at the New York Fashion Show at Sony Hall, and most recently, she presented a recital at the Rochester Fringe Festival, part of an event recognized by The New York Times as “one of the country’s most prominent multidisciplinary events,” and described by Rochester’s Fox News as “absolutely incredible and thrilling.” With a signature style that fuses modern innovation and classical artistry, Emilia delivers charismatic performances that are truly contagious.
